Arianne Olthaar and Jap Sam Books would like to invite you for the book launch of The File on D. / Dossier D. by Arianne Olthaar on Thursday December 14th at West in the Hague from 7 p.m. 

Arianne Olthaar (NL, 1970) portrays and documents vanishing, hidden and fictional interiors in film, photography and miniature models. Between 2008 and 2012, she visited a number of former state and luxury hotels from the 1970s-1980s in Central and Eastern Europe. Olthaar photographed the interiors with a Voigtländer Bessa L analogue camera. Arnon Grunberg wrote a story at her invitation that could have been set in one of these spaces.

The photos and text have been brought together in a special book, published by Jap Sam Books, designed by Studio Janneke Hendriks, and printed by Zwaan Lenoir.

During the festive launch of this publication, Arianne Olthaar will be in conversation with Manon Bovenkerk, producer, programmer and founder of near/by film. Following this, Arnon Grunberg will read from his text contribution. There will also be a continuous screening of Olthaars' short experimental film Hotel Forum (2016).
