Plans for 2023
We are back! After a great first month of 2023 we would like to share some of our plans for this year, with lots more to come. In this post you can find a sneak peek of what is coming.
Jap Sam Books is very excited to work with artist Thomas Trum on an exstensive publication called Daily Spins. Thomas Trum with an exhibition at Het Noord-Brabants Museum in Den Bosch. Daily Spins contains over 750 pages and will be designed by Team Thursday. The publication will be presented later this spring during the exhibition at het Noord-Brabants Museum. The exhibition is on view from March 4th until May 23rd 2023.

Artist Hannah van Bart paints portraits, still lifes, and landscapes, and cites the Dutch Golden Age artists as early inspiration to her practice. Jap Sam Books is working on a publication with the artist in cooperation with Centraal Museum, and with van Bart's two galleries: Marianne Boesky Gallery in New York, and Vielmetter in Los Angeles. With a preface by Bart Rutten (artistic director Centraal Museum), an essay by Hans den Hartog Jager, and an interview with the artist by UK writer and researcher Allie Biswas, and a design by PutGootink. Van Bart's publication will be launched during her exhibition at Landhuis Oud Amelisweerd later this summer.

Jap Sam Books is also working on a new monograph with artist Han Schuil to be launched later this fall. Han Schuil combines color, form and surface in his work in order to create a new world of his own. The publication will be presented during his exhibition at Landhuis Oud Amelisweerd.

More exciting news: Jap Sam Books will launch a publication by visual artist Patricia Kaersenhout with a design by Inedition (Eva van der Schans). The publication will be launched during Kaersenhout's exhibition at Het Bonnefanten Museum later this year. Currently her work is on view at the Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven until April 2nd in the exhibition Relinking - Patricia Kaersenhout.

This fall visual artist Diana Scherer will have a large-scale solo exhibition at Museum Kranenburgh in Bergen about her longterm project InterWoven, a project that touches the fields of art, design, and science. The artist developed a new technique and an innovative research in grown plant root textiles and material. Jap Sam Books is working on a publication with Scherer about the project to be released during the exhibition. Below some images Scherer's process and work.

Art historians Marguerite Tuijn and Eliane Odding are working on a comprehensive monograph on the work of Anton Rooskens (1906-1976). The last substantial monograph on Anton Rooskens was published in 1976. It was therefore time for a new comprehensive publication on this important Dutch 20th-century painter. Currently the exhibition Rooskens' Travels is on view at Stedelijk Museum Schiedam until June 25th. Anton Rooskens. Beyond Cobra will be presented at Stedelijk Museum Schiedam later this spring.
