Two new Jap Sam Books publications launched at the Dutch Pavilion during the 61st edition of La Biennale di Venezia!

Last week, during the official opening of the Dutch Pavilion at La Biennale di Venezia, The Fortress and The Netherlands at the Venice Biennale 1895-2025 were launched in the presence of His Majesty King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands and Her Majesty Queen Máxima of the Netherlands.

The opening marked the start of the Dutch contribution to the 61st edition of La Biennale di Venezia and brought together artists, curators, commissioners, press and visitors from around the world.

Minister of Education, Culture and Science Rianne Letschert addressed the audience during the opening ceremony:

The strength of art and culture lies not only in their capacity to offer beauty, but also to reflect on what is ugly – on injustice and abuses of power. They can connect us, but also lay bare stark contrasts and inequality. As such, they are indispensable to a healthy, pluralistic and free democracy.

La Biennale di Venezia runs from 9 May to 22 November 2026.
