Pi de Bruijn’s career spans one third of the twentieth century and a quarter of the twenty-first century. This richly illustrated book documents his life and work during a period in which Dutch architecture, cities and society underwent enormous changes. From war to abundance, through good times and bad. The festive closing event for Activating Common Ground will take place on 22 January 2026, starting at 19.30, at the Nieuwe Instituut in Rotterdam.

The programme includes an interview with architect Jarrik Ouburg on the project and publication Re-Thinking Re-Use. Copies of the book will be available for purchase after the programme in the foyer of the Nieuwe Instituut, through NAi Booksellers.

Below we share the first two architecture theory launches of 2025, both co-published by Jap Sam Books. These publications are the latest additions to two book series, Footprint 34 Narrating Shared Futures in the Footprint series, and Noetics Without a Mind in the Ecologies of Architecture book series.

Last month, author Raoul Bunschoten presented the first official copy of the new publication Taiwan Strait to professor Wang Shaosen at a reading at the University of Xiamen, China.

Tuesday evening 26 March 2024 at 7pm, BNI will organise a unique symposium entitled "Drawn to Drawing" at Nieuwe Instituut in Rotterdam. During this event, the importance of drawing for (interior) architects will be highlighted, inspired by BNI's NOOK Architectural Drawing and the book The Joy of Daily Drawing by architect Bob Custers, published by Jap Sam Books.

One of our latest publications [UN]FINISHED: Atlas of Athens' Incomplete Buildings - A Story of Hidden Antimonuments will be presented during the first edition of Omnibus, a new series of book events at the Nieuwe Instituut in Rotterdam. In each edition, presentation and talk will highlight two new publications. We are excited to be part of this evening!
